Gospel Mount

Intaglio Print with Digital Coloring | 7” x 10”

This piece depicts the significant events in the life of Jesus, from his Birth to Ascension, but uniquely all together on a mountain top.

I remember having the desire to do a bigger piece to capture the aspect of my faith. Something that capture more than a singular moment of who Christ was. I also loved the idea of including the mountain. Mountain tops are regarded as such holy sites in Christianity, in religion in general. It’s truly where Heaven and Earth meet. So what better way to display Christ’s life as progressed to the top of the mountain.

While Jesus had one numerous actions/miracles on Earth,I needed to include the most important of who His identity is. From the bottom right, and then zigzagging to the top, the following depict these moments:

Birth of Jesus Christ (Luke 2: 1-20)

Baptism by St. John the Baptist (Mark 1:9-11)

Temptation by the Devil (Luke 4: 1-13)

Walking on Water (John 6: 16-21)

Feeding the Five Thousand (Matthew 14:13-21)

Transfiguration (Mark 9: 2-10)

Last Supper (John 13: 1-5, 12-15)

Crucifixion (Matthew 27: 46, 50-51, 54)

Resurrection (John 20: 14-18)

Ascension (Acts 1: 9-11)

This piece is original a black and white intaglio print. I felt it important to do this piece in a more traditional medium. However I did want to add color to the piece, thus I decided to digitally copy the piece and color over it digitally.
