I AM THE VINE

Digital | 8.5”x 11”

“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.”

Jesus often spoke in metaphors and parables to teach us truths that are hard to grasp and understand. At the Last Supper, He told us that He is the vine and we are the branches. Over the years, I’ve seen minimal illustrations of this teaching. Thus it inspired me to illustrated a more literal take on it. Jesus as solid wood with numerous arounds reaching in every direction, extending to us. His body covered in greenery, mimicking a priestly cloak. In the middle, carved out is a heart, representing Jesus’ sacred heart and everlasting love for us.

I didn’t make this piece to be edgy or be heretical. I made to have a visual representation of the open arm invitation we have from Jesus to be in relationship with Him.
